Today is special, because I got nominated for a Liebster Award. My very good friend who blogs over at A Dash of Meg nominated me, since tomorrow is my birthday, it's kinda like an early present!
If you don’t know much about Meg, go over and read some of her posts! Not only does Meg have great posts about food, nutrition and fitness but she hosts fantastic giveaways and shares her beautiful journey of how she got to where she is today, she is a true inspiration. She is also my go-to tea guru at David’s Tea which we now frequent together! For those of you who follow Meg, I can tell you she really is as sweet as she seems!
I met Meg through social media because I found out that she would be attending CSNN with me, and we immediately sat together in school and have become very close friends! Thanks for the nomination Meg, you’re amazing.
The Liebster Award rules are as follows:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the questions you were given.
3. Nominate other blogs with less than 500 followers.
4. Post questions for your selected nominees to answer.
5. Tag and link the nominees and post a comment to let them know you have nominated them and appreciate their hard work.
Here are the questions Meg has asked me!
1. What made you want to start your own blog?
I wanted to start sharing my nutrition knowledge and start to get my name out prior to finishing my education. I learn so many new things that I wanted a place to share them with the world.
2. What is your favourite meal to eat?
I would say my favorite meal to eat is breakfast and lunch (I know that's two!). I always get to make these myself and I find them truly satisfying. I adore my morning smoothie and making giant salads for lunch! YUM!
3. What is your favourite form of exercise?
I am a Zumba Fitness Instructor, so I love that the most. There is nothing better then inspiring women to be free, move in some pretty amazing ways to some fantastic music, I absolutely love it. I also love running with my dog when the weather is nice and taking a huge variety of fitness classes at the gym I work at.
4. What does health mean to you?
Health means listening to your body and never feeling shame, regret or stress about your dietary needs and choices. I grew up eating foods that were not always nutritious and since changing to a more natural whole foods diet, I feel amazing. I don’t label my diet as anything which helps keep me focuses on what matters most, feeling the best by feeding my body what it truly needs and wants.
5. What inspires you most in the kitchen when creating a new recipe?
My personal intuition. I try very hard to eat according to my bodies desire, when I truly listen to what my body wants and craves, I make the most tasty foods. More and more I am eating in accordance with the seasons! I can actually feel myself gravitating towards spring greens (arugula anyone?), fruit, and lighter meals while moving away from heavier dishes and winter vegetables like sweet potato and kale.
My nominations are:
Hannah from over at Brave Hannah, she was one of the first people who followed me on Instagram that I didn’t already know. She has such a beautiful soul and has always been so supportive of me; we are always tagging each other in out Instagram pictures because we truly feel like we know each other’s tastes! Her blog is a personal account of her life, eats and fitness.
Deanna is a friend of mine that I have known since grade 5. Although we weren’t best friends for all that time, we went to the same university and through learning a bit more about each other, we are now only realizing how much we have in common! Her blog is a personal blog dedicated to what ever it is that sparks her interest, love it!
So ladies, here are my questions.
1. What “comfort food” reminds you of your childhood?
2. What helps keep you grounded in today's busy world?
3. What is your favorite kitchen appliance and what do you make with/in it?
4. Is healthy eating important to you?
Thanks again for the nomination Meg!
